1 Samuel 12: La importancia de la intercesión.
1 Samuel 12:13-25:
»Ahora pues, he aquí el rey que han elegido, el cual han pedido. He aquí que el SEÑOR ha constituido un rey sobre ustedes. Si temen al SEÑOR y le sirven, si obedecen su voz y no se rebelan contra el mandato del SEÑOR, entonces vivirán en pos del SEÑOR su Dios, tanto ustedes como el rey que reine sobre ustedes. Pero si no obedecen la voz del SEÑOR y si son rebeldes al mandato del SEÑOR, entonces la mano del SEÑOR estará contra ustedes y contra su rey. Preséntense, pues, ahora y vean esta maravilla que el SEÑOR va a hacer ante los ojos de ustedes. ¿No es ahora la siega del trigo? Sin embargo, yo invocaré al SEÑOR, y él enviará truenos y aguaceros para que conozcan y vean que es grande la maldad que han cometido ante los ojos del SEÑOR, al haber pedido un rey para ustedes. Samuel invocó al SEÑOR, y aquel día el SEÑOR envió truenos y aguaceros. Y todo el pueblo temió en gran manera al SEÑOR y a Samuel. Entonces todo el pueblo dijo a Samuel: —¡Ruega al SEÑOR, tu Dios, por tus siervos, para que no muramos! Porque a todos nuestros pecados hemos añadido el mal de pedir un rey para nosotros.
Y Samuel respondió al pueblo: —No teman. Ustedes han cometido todo este mal; pero con todo, no se aparten de en pos del SEÑOR, sino sirvan al SEÑOR con todo su corazón. No se aparten tras las vanidades que no sirven ni libran, ya que son vanidades. Pues el SEÑOR no desamparará a su pueblo, por causa de su gran nombre; porque él ha querido hacerlos pueblo suyo. En cuanto a mí, ¡lejos esté de mí pecar contra el SEÑOR dejando de rogar por ustedes! Al contrario, los instruiré en el camino bueno y recto. Solamente teman al SEÑOR y sírvanle con fidelidad y con todo su corazón, considerando cuán grandes cosas él ha hecho por ustedes. Pero si perseveran en hacer el mal, ustedes y su rey perecerán.

En este capítulo vemos a Samuel, de edad avanzada, recriminando al pueblo su dureza de corazón y su atrevimiento delante de Dios al haber pedido rey, ignorando que Dios era su rey.
Para demostrar al pueblo que habían hecho algo grave, Samuel hizo una oración y milagrosamente comenzó a tronar y llover en tiempo que no era de lluvia.
El pueblo reconoció su error y clamó a Dios por misericordia. Samuel oró por ellos y les puso condiciones para que Dios los bendiga a pesar de sus errores.
Primero, les dijo, que nunca se aparten del Señor, que le sirvan de todo corazón y se ocupen en agradarle.
Segundo, que no siguieran cosas vanas que son temporales y que no tienen ningún poder para bendecir ni salvar, deseos de la carne que no traen ningún beneficio espiritual. Posiblemente él hizo referencia acerca de que se cuiden de adorar dioses de madera o metales preciosos.

Pero lo que me conmueve de este capítulo es la declaración de cariño y compasión de Samuel hacia el pueblo. ¡Él les dijo que nunca dejaría de orar por ellos! Que sería como un pecado delante de Dios abandonar al pueblo, dejando de interceder por ellos. Samuel, como padre espiritual y líder natural de Israel, que en ese tiempo le llamaban juez, fue uno de los grandes jueces de Israel, tomando su llamamiento muy en serio, siendo uno de los más destacados de la época. Samuel se puso a sí mismo en la lista entre Gedeón, Barac y otros líderes que hicieron grandes proezas en el pueblo, siendo ellos dirigidos por Dios para liberar al pueblo y traer un avivamiento espiritual. Samuel fue exitoso en su misión de liderar al pueblo porque él continuamente oraba por ellos.

Espero que el ejemplo que nos da Samuel en su liderazgo nos inspire a poder impactar nuestros hogares de la misma forma en que Samuel lo hizo. Que seamos esa voz que traiga corrección, dirección y ánimo a nuestra familia, que nos conectemos con la presencia de Dios todos los días y entender cuál es el rumbo que debemos tomar nosotros y nuestra familia en momentos de incertidumbre, ya que Dios nos revela sus propósitos y nos muestra la dirección que debemos tomar.
Así como Samuel, nunca paremos de interceder todos los días por nuestros seres queridos. También debemos aprender de la perseverancia de Samuel, que desde su juventud comenzó a ser un instrumento en las manos de Dios, y hasta su vejez fue fiel a Dios, guiando al pueblo. Espero que esto inspire a algún joven que quiera servir a Dios, que no temas dedicar tu vida al Señor porque el Señor te ayudará a ser exitoso si honras al Señor con tu corazón.

1 Samuel 12:13-25:
“Now therefore, here is the king whom you have chosen and whom you have desired. And take note, the Lord has set a king over you. If you fear the Lord and serve Him and obey His voice, and do not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then both you and the king who reigns over you will continue following the Lord your God. However, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then the hand of the Lord will be against you, as it was against your fathers. “Now therefore, stand and see this great thing which the Lord will do before your eyes: Is today not the wheat harvest? I will call to the Lord, and He will send thunder and rain, that you may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the Lord, in asking a king for yourselves.”
So Samuel called to the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day; and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel. And all the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants to the Lord your God, that we may not die; for we have added to all our sins the evil of asking a king for ourselves.”
Then Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing. For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people. Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way. Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king.”

In this chapter we see Samuel, of advanced age, reproaching the people for their hardness of heart and their audacity before God in having asked for a king, ignoring that God was their king.
To show the people that they had done something serious, Samuel said a prayer and miraculously began to thunder and rain in a time that was not rainy.
The people recognized their mistake and cried out to God for mercy. Samuel prayed for them and set conditions for God to bless them despite their mistakes.
First, he told them to never turn away from the Lord, that they serve Him wholeheartedly and take care to please Him.
Second, that they should not follow vain things that are temporary and have no power to bless or save, desires of the flesh that do not bring any spiritual benefit. Possibly he made reference to being careful not to worship gods made of wood or precious metals.

But what moves me in this chapter is Samuel's statement of love and compassion for the people. He told them that he would never stop praying for them! That it would be like a sin before God to abandon the people, failing to intercede for them. Samuel, as spiritual father and natural leader of Israel, who at that time was called a judge, was one of the great judges of Israel, taking his calling very seriously, being one of the most outstanding of the time. Samuel listed himself among Gideon, Barak and other leaders who did great feats in the people, being directed by God to deliver the people and bring spiritual revival. Samuel was successful in his mission to lead the people because he continually prayed for them.

I hope that the example that Samuel gives us in his leadership inspires us to be able to impact our homes in the same way that Samuel did. That we be that voice that brings correction, direction and encouragement to our family, that we connect with the presence of God every day and understand what is the direction that we and our family must take in moments of uncertainty, since God reveals His purposes and shows us the direction we should take.
Just like Samuel, let us never stop interceding every day for our loved ones. We must also learn from the perseverance of Samuel, who from his youth began to be an instrument in the hands of God, and until his old age he was faithful to God, guiding the people. I hope this inspires some young person who wants to serve God, to not be afraid to dedicate your life to the Lord because the Lord will help you to be successful if you honor the Lord with your heart.
