JUNETEENTH! Official day of freedom from the 300 plus years of Slavery in the United States. On June 19th, 1865 President Abraham Lincoln’s emancipation proclamation executive order freeing all slaves from slavery reached Galveston Texas.

On this episode of KINGS Hour, we asked Mrs. Betty Sawyer to come back to the show to drop some more knowledge; this time about the Juneteenth celebration. Ms. Betty, created the Juneteenth celebration in Utah 32 years ago. Educating the Utah community and all of our young black leaders on the importance of why we have our freedom today. Sacrifices from our ancestors are to be commemorated not just on June 19th, but each and everyday.
