This week I get back to how this podcast started…diving in to the top music and movie charts for a given (Gen X) year. This time it's all about 1993. Hard to believe that it has been 30 years since such classic songs as “Nuthin’ But A G Thang” and “I Will Always Love You” were riding high on the charts. It was also the year when some “hair bands” were able to shed that image so they could forge ahead in the post-grunge rock landscape.
And why was there a “Whoot“ and a “Whoomp“ “There It Is”?!
The top grossing movies were all vehicles starring some of the biggest stars in cinema history. Tom Cruise, Robin Williams, and Demi Moore all had multiple entries on the charts - a testament to their drawing power. And most of these movies still hold up today. Not to mention guys like Stallone and Eastwood were still making top grossing movies decades into their careers!
