Between 1978 and 1983 self-obsessed loner, Dennis Nilsen, lured young men to his North London apartments before throttling or drowning them and indulging in a phantasmagorically tragic sexual ritual. His victims were posthumously subjected to an extended fetishized reverence before being disposed of like excrement.

Although his ghoulish obsession would result in drains clogged with pieces of the men and boys he had callously murdered and despite the mid-century charnel house decor of his apartment, Nilsen would become known as the "Kindly Killer" for his genteel manners and eagerness to admit to his gruesome hobbies.
