In Italia non tutte le persone stanno sotto lo stesso cielo.

L'italia è un paese strano. E no, non mi riferisco al fatto che è un posto pieno di gente che non ha il senso del bene comune, gente egoista che non paga le tasse, a cui non gliene frega niente degli altri. No, no, parlo come posto geograficamente, un posto strano perché è estremamente lungo, si estende in lunghezza e quindi è esposto a diverse zone climatiche.

Faccio un esempio: questa mattina ho parlato con mio figlio che sta all'estremo nord del paese e nevicava e si preannunciava una giornata con neve, vento, freddo, insomma un tempaccio da lupi. Io sto all'estremo sud della Nazione è la situazione qua è completamente diversa: se lì le temperature stavano tra un grado e otto gradi di massima qui stiamo fra i, boh non lo so dodici/ventidue, comunque una bellissima giornata, questo pomeriggio c'era addirittura caldo, nel senso che c'era questa brezza abbastanza calda da permetterti di toglierti la giacca e di tenerle in mano e stare anche con una camicia leggera, una maglietta.

Secondo me il fatto che geograficamente il Paese sia così esteso ed esposto a diverse zone climatiche non può che avere un impatto anche su come sta la gente, come si sente la gente, il sentirsi nazione, il sentirsi tutti uniti, il sentirsi parte di qualcosa di più grande.

E questo è un po' il problema che ha l'Italia non avere il senso della nazione se non quando gioca la nazionale o quando c'è qualcosa di sportivo, oppure per il Papa che gli italiani considerano una cosa loro, perché il Papa? Boh, non lo so, sarà perché siamo immersi, sarà perché il Vaticano è in Italia? Forse per quello sì, sarà perché la religione cattolica è comunque la religione di Stato, probabilmente anche per quello.

No, però manca questo senso di appartenenza che invece esiste ed è evidente in tante altre nazioni. Ci sono dei motivi storici, lo so, lo so, lo so, l'unificazione d'Italia è stata quella che è stato, ci sono dei continui sussulti di parti della nazione che vogliono staccarsi, vogliono avere più indipendenza, vogliono che si dia meno indipendenza ad altre parti, insomma c'è un panorama molto composito.

Fatto sta che il tempo meteorologico non ci aiuta a sentirci uniti sotto lo stesso cielo, perché di fatto il cielo sotto il quale ci troviamo è molto diverso. Infatti al nord, pieno di neve, al sud pieno di sole, con una bellissima giornata autunnale.

And that's kind of the problem that Italy has not having a sense of nationhood except when the national soccer team is playing or when there's something sporting, or for the Pope which the Italians consider their own thing, why the Pope?
