Jehosaphat and Ahab form an alliance to go up against Syria to recover Ramath Giliad, but first enquire of the Lord by the prophets. Only one prophet knew the truth, all the others had been deceived by a lying spirit to advise Ahab to go into battle to be slain fulfilling prophecy. Ahab convinced Jehosphat to wear his clothes and he then dresses as a warrior going into battle and is shot in the chest by an expert marksman. Ahab dies, and when his chariot is washed out, the dogs lick up the blood and the harlots washed themselves in his blood at the well as foretold.
