Naaman they Syrian hears there is a prophet in Israel who can heal leprosy and so he obtains permission and provision from the king to go and be healed of his uncleanness. Elisha sends a servant who informs him to dip himself in the Jordan river and be healed. Afterward Elisha refuses to accept a reward from Naaman, but Gehazi pursues him and lies and thus is cursed to carry Naaman's leprosy for ever.
