The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the principal federal law enforcement agency of the United States. Its primary responsibility is to investigate and enforce federal laws, including combating terrorism, organized crime, cybercrime, public corruption, civil rights violations, and more. The FBI operates under the jurisdiction of the Department of Justice and is known for its investigative expertise and capabilities.

Larry Nassar, on the other hand, is a former USA Gymnastics national team doctor and osteopathic physician. He gained notoriety for sexually abusing numerous young female athletes under the guise of medical treatment. Nassar's victims included gymnasts from the U.S. Olympic team, college athletes, and others who sought his medical care.

The FBI's involvement in the Larry Nassar case came under scrutiny due to allegations of mishandling and inadequate investigation. In 2015, USA Gymnastics reported allegations of Nassar's abuse to the FBI, but it took more than a year for the Bureau to initiate a formal investigation.

Additionally, during the investigation, two FBI agents involved in the case were found to have made false statements and provided incomplete reports, further hindering the pursuit of justice. These mishandlings and delays in the investigation led to public outrage and criticism of both the FBI and its handling of the Nassar case. The victims and their families argued that if the FBI had acted promptly and thoroughly, many more instances of abuse could have been prevented. In response to the criticism, the FBI apologized for its failures and pledged to hold accountable those responsible for the mishandling of the case.

In this episode, we take it back almost a year to the senate judiciary hearing that was held over the FBI's failure to stop Larry Nassar.
