Insley's mother, Karen, was devastated when her daughter didn't wake up from a nap after complaining of a headache. Karen would later learn at the hospital that Insley had a brain tumor, and Insely never regained consciousness before she passed away 3 days later. Karen has been on a spiritual journey since Insley's death, and she believes that it was her daughter's soul's plan to lead her to advocate for pediatric cancer research.
