On the Whitney Soul Podcast, today’s topic is Aaliyah. Be of good cheer. According to the good book, they’ll be resurrection & she’ll rise again.
No journey to the past
There will be tomorrow
Not yesterday
(Get up)
Like a pilot
She’s coming our way
Coming back to stay
Whitney Houston was an Aaliyah fan. She said she loved her voice and thought her songs were great for the new breed of music that came in. Whitney said Aaliyah was perfect for Sparkle and that she wanted it and prepared for it. But Aaliyah had a tragic end. It made Whitney very sad.
Whitney Houston was Aaliyah number one favorite singer. She really influenced Aaliyah, and just think about it. They were going to make a movie together. Aaliyah was going to work with Whitney Houston. She was reaching her goals and moving towards the future.
Have you heard Aaliyah’s unreleased song, Giving Up? It is a song that was intended for the movie Sparkle. It is a cover that she created of the Donny Hathaway song. Aaliyah had a great singing voice and she didn’t have to shout to prove it. She was a different kind of singer. We don’t need all of our singers to sound the same. Aaliyah had a beautiful and natural voice.
I love the way Aaliyah sang Journey to the Past. But they’ll be no Journey to the past. God has a greater future for his people, and he knows best. The movie Sparkle just wasn’t intended for Aaliyah or it would have happened.
Sometimes the future we plan might not be so good. God looks ahead. He looked ahead of Aaliyah’s life, and he looked ahead of Whitney Houston’s life. In this wicked world, there’s no need to worry. God knows what he’s doing when he makes a decision. We’re gonna see each other again one day soon. That day is near.
