📖 1 Juan 3:1‭-‬18 RVA2015:
Miren cuán grande amor nos ha dado el Padre para que seamos llamados hijos de Dios. ¡Y lo somos! Por esto el mundo no nos conoce, porque no lo conoció a él. Amados, ahora somos hijos de Dios, y aún no se ha manifestado lo que seremos. Pero sabemos que, cuando él sea manifestado, seremos semejantes a él porque lo veremos tal como él es. Y todo aquel que tiene esta esperanza en él se purifica a sí mismo, como él también es puro. Todo aquel que comete pecado también infringe la ley, pues el pecado es infracción de la ley. Y ustedes saben que él fue manifestado para quitar los pecados y que en él no hay pecado. Todo aquel que permanece en él no continúa pecando. Todo aquel que sigue pecando no lo ha visto ni le ha conocido. Hijitos, nadie los engañe. El que practica justicia es justo, como él es justo. El que practica el pecado es del diablo, porque el diablo peca desde el principio. Para esto fue manifestado el Hijo de Dios: para deshacer las obras del diablo. Todo aquel que ha nacido de Dios no practica el pecado porque la simiente de Dios permanece en él, y no puede seguir pecando porque ha nacido de Dios. En esto se revelan los hijos de Dios y los hijos del diablo: Todo aquel que no practica justicia no es de Dios, ni tampoco el que no ama a su hermano. Porque este es el mensaje que ustedes han oído desde el principio: que nos amemos los unos a los otros. No como Caín, que era del maligno y mató a su hermano. ¿Y por qué causa lo mató? Porque sus obras eran malas, y las de su hermano eran justas. Y no se maravillen, hermanos, si el mundo los aborrece. Nosotros sabemos que hemos pasado de muerte a vida porque amamos a los hermanos. El que no ama permanece en muerte. Todo aquel que odia a su hermano es homicida, y ustedes saben que ningún homicida tiene vida eterna permaneciendo en él. En esto hemos conocido el amor: en que él puso su vida por nosotros. También nosotros debemos poner nuestra vida por los hermanos. Pero el que tiene bienes de este mundo y ve que su hermano padece necesidad y le cierra su corazón, ¿cómo morará el amor de Dios en él? Hijitos, no amemos de palabra ni de lengua, sino de hecho y de verdad.

En el capítulo 3 encontramos varias enseñanzas acerca del bien y el mal, de la obediencia y el pecado, de la luz y las tinieblas, la justicia y la injusticia.
Primero, nos recuerda la gran promesa que tenemos cuando Jesús venga por aquellos que han creído en Él, y es el ser transformados a su imagen y semejanza cuando Jesús se manifieste. De esta forma seremos purificados constantemente, pues el hecho de pensar en la venida del Señor nos hace mantenernos limpios y justos.
Quiero resaltar la gravedad que hay cuando guardamos algún odio y resentimiento en el corazón. En esta carta el apóstol nos indica que el odio hacia nuestro hermano es equivalente a un homicidio. Si alguien maltrata al hermano con palabras y acciones destructivas, lo que puede ocasionar es la muerte de esa persona, ¡convirtiéndose en un homicida! ¡Las palabras matan, hieren y destruyen!
Cuando alguien usa palabras ofensivas e hirientes, está marcando el alma de esa persona, dejándola con heridas en el corazón y hasta matando su autoestima, su fe en Dios y su confianza en los cristianos.
Tengamos cuidado con nuestro trato al prójimo. Que no seamos nosotros los causantes de la muerte espiritual de alguien, y después, Dios nos tome en cuenta ese daño como un pecado y nos aleje de su presencia.
Cómo lo advirtió el apóstol: no vayamos a cometer el mismo error de Caín que dejó que se le dañara su corazón y mató a su hermano simplemente porque Abel ofreció un mejor sacrificio que él.

Consideremos:
¿Estamos esperando la venida del Señor?
¿Estamos guardando nuestro corazón de resentimientos contra nuestro prójimo?

August 20: Killing without weapons.

1 John 3:1-18:
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.
Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.


In chapter 3 we find various teachings about good and evil, obedience and sin, light and darkness, justice and injustice.
First, it reminds us of the great promise we have when Jesus comes for those who have believed in Him, and that is to be transformed into His image and likeness when Jesus appears. In this way we will be constantly purified, because the thought of the coming of the Lord makes us stay clean and righteous.
I want to highlight how serious there is when we have hatred and resentment in our hearts. In this letter the apostle tells us that hatred towards our brother and sister is equivalent to murder. If someone mistreats the brother and sister with destructive words and actions, what it can cause is the death of that person, becoming a murderer! Words kill, wound and destroy!
When someone uses offensive and hurtful words, it is marking the soul of that person, leaving them with wounds in the heart and even killing their self-esteem, their faith in God and their trust in Christians.
Let us be careful with our treatment of others. Let us not be the cause of someone's spiritual death, and then God will take that damage into account as a sin and He will remove us from His presence.
As the apostle warned: Let's not make the same mistake as Cain who let his heart be damaged and killed his brother simply because Abel offered a better sacrifice than he did.

Let us consider:
Are we waiting for the coming of the Lord?
Are we keeping our heart from resentment against our neighbor?
