“Alcohol has always been spiritual, and when you become connected to the spirituality of those beverages and understand their history, what you drink becomes more meaningful and sacred.” Bestselling author, blogger and magical mixologist Julia Halina Hadas joins the show to discuss magical mixology and lunar libations.
Julia is a longtime practicing witch, energy worker, and avid craft cocktail fanatic and bartender. Having worked at a distillery and as a craft cocktail bartender in the San Francisco Bay Area, she combined her love of the craft cocktail movement with her spiritual practice.
In this episode, Julia explains how her dream of becoming a fantasy author led her to creative writing, magic and witchcraft. She describes her experience working at a metaphysical shop, the people she met and the knowledge she learned, as well as her career as a bartender. She talks about using her bartending skills to create potion-like cocktails, which she shares on a blog. Julia explains how she landed a book deal, giving tips to aspiring writers on navigating the publishing industry and becoming an author. Julia discusses her second book, “Moon, Magic, Mixology,” explaining the connection between alcohol, the moon and spirituality before giving us a brief history of lunar libations and mixology.
