Those looking forward to seeing Halestorm on their Australian tour early next year have been dealt another winning hand with the announcement that Canadian rock outfit Theory (formerly Theory Of...
show moreTheory have only ever been out this way once before in 2018, and impressed so much on that run that fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of a return visit.
With a new song in Dinosaur under their belt and a new album either just released or about to be released by the time they get here in late January, Theory will be primed to capitalise on their recent success that began with the smash hit RX (Medicate) from 2017 album Wake Up Call and continued with the bands most recent album Say Nothing and the song History Of Violence that many in the music industry believe marked a new chapter in the already impressive story of Theory.
HEAVY caught up with frontman Tyler Connolly to chat about the tour.
"It's fantastic," he enthused when asked how good it feels just to be able to book tours overseas again. "We've never been to New Zealand and only been to Australia once, and growing up in Canada for some reason we feel like Australians - as little as we've been over there - we feel like they are similar. They're very nice, very laid back, they like the outdoors... so when we go down there it feels like home."
When pressed on what fans can expect from the run of shows Connolly gets a glint in his eye. "It's gonna be tough," he measured. "By then we're gonna have eight albums worth of material - well the new single and seven albums - so we're gonna try and jam in 100 plus songs at once (laughs). It's gonna be a massive medley."
In the full interview, Tyler talks more about the tour and what we can expect, touring with Halestorm and why he thinks they were chosen, the early days of Theory, where they fit in initially, being the first band to sign to Chad Kroeger's label 604 and how it came about, the surprise hit RX and why he thinks people connected with it, the new chapter of Theory alluded to in the press, why you should come to the shows and more.
