The Spanaway Stakes is an American thoroughbred horse race run annually at Saratoga race course in Saratoga Springs, New York. Open to two-year-old fillies, it is a Grade 1 event contested at a distance of seven for a long (1408 metres) on dirt.

In horse racing, the term “ways and means” refers to the different strategies with tactics employed by jockeys or trainers to achieve success in a race. It could be anything that can influence a horses performance and chances of winning like race strategy, timing, and paste.

But yeah, Brightwork is the winner in the news under jockey Irad Ortiz Junior, a Puerto Rican jockey who has been a leading rider in the New York thoroughbred horse racing circuit since 2012.
