In Chapter Seven we are joined by Stephen Sullivan from the Fifa.com and biographer of the forthcoming book on Sean Fallon. We cover the period 1960 to 1970 which is undoubtedly the golden age for the Club. Despite a disappointing start to the decade, the Clubs fortunes are transformed with the appointment of Jock Stein to the managerial seat as we see the team going from great pretenders to a European force.
It was bliss for everyone involved with the Club in this period as we not only discuss Lisbon, but chart the development of the team from the European Cup Winners Cup disappointment of 1964 to the all-conquering team of the late sixties. We listen to Ian Young, Bertie Auld, Bobby Lennox, George Connelly and the late Joe McBride telling of their experiences of playing in the hoops during the period and revel in the glory that was Celtic – The Greatest Team in the World.
There is also the Tales from the Wiki, the History of the Stadium, the History of the Celtic Shirt and all your Fan Stories and Confessions.
As our Seventh guest, Stephen nominates Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice as the nominated charity and you can learn more about them at http://www.ppwh.org.uk/
We are asking everyone that downloads the podcast to donate one pound, fifty pence or even a fiver for the episode, but really anything you can afford will be greatly appreciated and ALL monies raised will be given to the ten worthy charities at the end of the series.
