"We wanted to go with a little different approach to the last release", measured Dave Cutting, vocalist and guitarist for Chasing Lana speaking about their upcoming debut album The Fight. "This is our first album so it's full length with ten tracks. Every other E.P we've done was shorter - we had the four-track demo and then the six-track E.P - but we wanted to make sure it was slightly heavier as well. Being a rock band in Melbourne the scene is good and the metal scene is better and we're either too heavy for the bill or we're too soft so we wanted to get a little heavier - not too heavy - but just a little bit so we could get on any bill or festival around the country that would take us".Normally when a band says their new album is heavier they talk in generic terms, but Cutting was more than happy to elaborate on his statement."The tone of the guitars", he explained, "plus on some of my vocals I did more bottom growls and screams and stuff. The opening track 'House of Pain' is probably the heaviest on the album and 'Let the Demons Out' is pretty heavy as well. Vocally I got out of my comfort zone a bit and did more screams and growls which was different.
