Description
It's the College Hockey Scoreboard Show for September 28, 2024. It's just the scores as you stay up late - again - watching a team from Alaska or you're up...
show moreWe'll start with the dozen games on the women's side.
Top-ranked Ohio State shut out Bemidji State 3-0, evening their record at 2-2 while outshooting the Beavers 55-15, with three different players scoring for the Buckeyes.
#2 Wisconsin dominated Lindenwood 8-1, with Cassie Hall and Marianne Picard each scoring two goals as the Badgers netted 20 goals across the series sweep.
Third-ranked Minnesota edged ninth-ranked and host UConn 3-2 in overtime, with Abbey Murphy netting the OT winner. The Gophers had two shorthanded goals in completing the sweep.
Mercyhurst pulled off an upset with a 4-3 overtime win over fourth-ranked Colgate, with Makayla Javier scoring the game-winner on a feed from Vanessa Upson.
No. 5 Clarkson cruised to a 14-0 victory over St. Michael’s, led by Haley Winn’s hat trick and four assists.
Tenth-ranked Quinnipiac swept Maine with a 4-0 win, as Kaley Doyle made 24 saves for back-to-back shutouts. RIT rolled over Assumption 5-0, with five different players scoring and outshooting their opponent 38-11.
Boston College defeated Stonehill 5-1, with five Eagles scoring in the victory while outshooting the Skyhawks 43-18. RPI beat Holy Cross 2-0, with Andrea Trnkova scoring both goals to earn the Engineers the series split.
Union topped Robert Morris 4-2 to split their series and give new head coach Tony Maci his first win leading the Garnet Chargers. Minnesota State closed out the action with a 6-2 win over Manitoba in Richmond, Minnesota - which is a town I had to look up via Google Maps. It’s in Stearns County by the way.
Syracuse’s series against seventh-ranked Minnesota-Duluth was postponed due to travel issues caused by Hurricane Helene, with the games rescheduled for January 2-3.
The one game on the men’s side was yet another Alaska Test. This time it was Fairbanks’ turn to do the exhibition thing against Grand Canyon University of the ACHA. The Nanooks bested their visitors from Arizona 5-4. All Hail Spacebear!
Action on Sunday is sparse with just two games scheduled as a result of that Syracuse-UMD postponement. LIU is at No. 14 Princeton while Manitoba completes its stretch through the State of Hockey with an exhibition at St. Thomas .
And yes, this show is new and it has a distinct reason for existing - just the scores in a quick and dirty format. Drop a rating or review wherever fine - or not so fine - podcasts are found or do it right at the website, collegehockeyscoreboardpod.com.
That's your College Hockey Scoreboard for September 28, 2024.
