show moreHello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Franklin D. Roosevelt, and it is: A good leader can’t get too far ahead of his followers.
A Good Leader
One aspect of being a good leader is to make sure those you are supposed to be leading are still following you. Unfortunately, one lesson that I had to learn as a young leader of our company and other organizations is that I was moving forward at such a brisk pace that I lost sight of those who were supposed to follow. Not only that, as my wonderful bride would have to remind me, I had not only left my followers in the dust, I just plowed over several followers in my haste to move forward. So as a leader of others, whether you are young or old, keep in mind that you need to assure that you are still being followed and that your team knows where they are heading. So, every once in a while, put yourself in the shoes of your followers and ask this question: Would I be willing to follow this person? There are many facets needed to be an excellent leader, and there are several ways to develop leadership qualities. One way is through practice. Be aware of the skills you need to develop and find opportunities to use those skills. Another way is through professional development through the use of a mentor or training course. Finally, as with every aspect of life, always be humble and willing to learn.

But among you, it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant.
