show moreHello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Irish Blessing, and it is: A good memory is one that can remember the day’s blessings and forget the day’s troubles.
A Good Memory
Some people have the ability to remember the past with vivid clarity, while others have difficulty remembering the last five minutes. Most of us are somewhere in between. There are three basic personalities that I think play a part in this. Those who make decisions based on the past, those who make decisions based on their current situation, and those who are more forward-looking and decide what they perceive the future will hold. I have to admit, I am very much a forward thinker and tend to be very optimistic when viewing the past, present, and future. I tend to remember the day’s blessings and forget the day’s troubles. While I try to be realistic in my assessment of life and the future, I don’t want to create any unnecessary roadblocks that impede the potential for the future. We can learn from the past, but we cannot change it. Regardless of how difficult the past has been, it does not have to be our future. I know certain personality types deal with life differently, but it is also based on the choices we make from this day forward. Let us choose to remember the day’s blessings and dwell on them while minimizing the day’s troubles because they are behind us.

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
