show moreDede Wyland has forged her musical career in the great world of bluegrass music as a nationally and internationally known singer and touring artist. Her compelling voice has enchanted audiences around the globe, and her driving rhythm guitar style becomes the rhythmic core of whatever group she joins forces with. Since moving to the D.C. area, she has been the recipient of 11 Washington Area Music Association Awards for her singing, and her career is the subject of a dedicated chapter in Murphy Henry’s 2013 book Women in Bluegrass: Pretty Good for a Girl. When asked about her own thoughts regarding the country music world, Dede said this: “I love how country music can span from highly energetic fun to a low key intimacy, and how the cathartic nature of the style creates a deeper and more direct connection between the artist and the listener.”
