Helmet will be touring Australia in May, celebrating a distinguished 30-year career by assembling a special collection of 30 songs to showcase the bands' history.
"We started this thing out in Prague back in early September", details Page Hamilton, vocalist and lead guitarist, "and it was kind of daunting at first trying to figure out how to get a set flow with 30 songs of just Helmet music with no support band. We got a groove going after a couple of shows and we've added a bunch of songs that have never been performed live before and some that hadn't been performed since '91, '92. I find when you bring new stuff - or new old stuff - into the set it injects new life into the rest of the things that you've played over the course of thirty years. It's been really fun. I'm surprised by how much fun it's been and I love doing it".
In the full interview Page discusses the selection process for the 30 songs, how his songwriting has changed since he started, how moving to New York to study jazz led to him forming Helmet, his early vision for the band and how it has changed, following trends in music, regrets and things he would have done differently and more.
