Aalia takes this opportunity to amplify the voice of young female Black law student, Ashli Lyric. The Spelman graduate and soon to be attorney has become vocal through blogging about her experience as one of seven people of color in her entire graduating law school class. Having a perspective that the world was changing towards the Black community, she happily celebrated the rise of young, black leaders with friends, fellow Spelman classmates, and family such as her father, well-known hip-hop artist DNice. In law school, she was confronted with a world where the Black community is often the subject of criminal case law, negative statistics, and local KKK members handing out flyers on campus. They also touch on what it is like to see fellow Alpha Kappa Alpha alumni Kamala Harris be nominated for VP and how her experiences fuel her desire to mentor other young black women seeking to go to law school.
