In this episode of "Foul Pole to Foul Pole" we catch up with Mike Zimmer. We talk parent to parent and we talk about what we have learned about the game and ourselves over the years. We discuss how social media plays a role in college recruiting. We talk about Texas softball and how it compares to the rest of the country. Plus, we get into how and why Mike started one of the biggest Facebook groups when it comes to softball!

Mike's daughter currently plays with Texas Glory. We discuss what led them to join one of the biggest organizations in Texas and how that has impacted her career. Being in a part of an organization like Texas Glory, athletes not only have the opportunity to be coached by some of the best in the country, but they also have a ton of resources to pull from. Whether it's the network, competition, or just being around like minds, the players that come out of Texas Glory are built for success.

All of the social media platforms are a way to help get exposure. Using Twitter and Facebook, athletes can showcase themselves to schools they are interested in attending. But, what are some of the negative things that can come out of social media? Mike and I discuss how players can actually sabotage their recruiting process before it gets off the ground. Used properly it can be a good thing, used in the wrong way...it can be detrimental.
