Show us the money!
That’s right, today’s episode of The GIST of It is all about two major money moves. Co-hosts Ellen Hyslop and Steph Rotz begin in baseball, where two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani just inked the largest contract in team sports history, joining the LA Dodgers on a $700M, 10-year deal. Ohtani is a once in a lifetime player, and now he has an unprecedented contract to match it.
Then for part two, El and Steph kick it over to the pitch with news that the U.S. and Mexico submitted a joint bid to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, potentially making North America the soccer destination this decade.
Thanks for kickin’ it with us!
Show notes:
FIFPRO discrimination study: One in five players faced discrimination, with the @USWNT bearing the brunt of the abuse.
