We have a heavenly guarantee that our prayers will be answered, but so often we have not because we ask not. God has given us great access in prayer, where we can share our heart with Him, and we can hear His heart for us. God is eager to answer us when we call. In Song of Songs 2:14, Our Bridegroom invites us to talk with Him saying, "Show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely."
