Description
In this special hotline episode of Lead with the Enneagram, we had the pleasure of speaking with Julie A, a one-on-one Enneagram 9 with a 935 tri-type, also known as...
show moreWe delved into the nuances of being an Enneagram 9, discussing the core emotion of anger and how it often manifests in passive-aggressive behaviors like avoidance and procrastination. Julie opened up about her challenges with confronting anger and conflict, and we explored strategies for nines to develop a healthier relationship with these emotions.
Julie also touched on her experience of grief and how it has led to feelings of sloth, a common struggle for Enneagram 9s when they are disintegrating. We discussed the importance of contrary action and how leveraging the strengths of her one and eight wings can help her navigate through tough times without getting stuck.
A significant revelation for Julie was understanding that her core motivator is freedom, not safety, which she had previously believed. This insight has prompted her to reflect on her career choices and how they align with her need for independence, autonomy, and control.
Lastly, we unpacked Julie's tri-type, the thinker (935), which combines the ambition of a three, the knowledge-seeking nature of a five, and the peacemaking qualities of a nine. This tri-type explains Julie's intellectual approach and her ability to manage situations and relationships effectively.
Throughout the episode, we emphasized the importance of self-awareness and the use of the Enneagram as a tool for personal growth. By understanding our core fears and motives, and by building the muscles of our supporting cast – our wings and growth/stress numbers – we can navigate life's challenges with grace and resilience.
For those looking to understand and support an Enneagram 9 in their life, remember to gently probe beyond their initial "I'm fine" response to truly understand their feelings. And for anyone interested in diving deeper into their Enneagram blueprint, I encourage you to visit my website and explore the resources available.
