DEVOTION
Based on Psalm 44
Tonight’s psalm begins with a story about how God’s mighty hand drove out the wicked nations and gave His people a place to rest safely in their land. Those same hands that protected His people back then will deliver you from the fears and worries that attack your mind tonight. At times, it may seem as though He isn’t working on your behalf, but He is constantly. The important thing is not to lose heart and to remain strong in your faith in Him.
Surrender to Him now and trust that, in His arms, you can rest securely through the night. He is strong enough and caring enough to take your burdens from the day and protect you through the night. Focus your thoughts now on His faithfulness in your life, and be confident that He is with you as you sleep.
A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION:
Think about the Lord as your King. What does this mean to you? Allow His power and care to bring you hope and comfort. Close your eyes and imagine God leading the way through your trials and tribulations. Imagine His hands striking anything that stands against you. Worship Him for His faithfulness to you in the past as well as in your current circumstances.
CONFESSION:
Think of a time when you put your hope in something or someone else other than the Lord. Confess any idols you are depending on and ask for His forgiveness. Ask Him to help you put your hope and trust in Him above all else.
THANKSGIVING:
Rejoice in His name. Thank Him for the times He has rescued you and helped you. Thank Him in advance for the future troubles He will deliver you from.
SUPPLICATION:
Lord, I want to release my troubles to You now and rest in Your arms tonight. I believe You are for me and that You will deliver me from the pressures I face. I cast my fears and anxiety onto You and trust that You are working toward the victory You have in store for me. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
PRAYER
“The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?”
PSALM 27:1
Dear Heavenly Father, as I lay down to rest tonight, I pray that You would relieve me of all fears and anxieties. Wash over me with Your love and comfort, filling me with the peace that surpasses all understanding. I admit to being afraid, anxious, and unsure about the future. Please do not delay in granting me comfort. Give me the strength to trust Your sovereignty and promises. May Your presence bring me restful sleep so I can wake up tomorrow renewed and refreshed without anxiousness and restlessness. I put my trust in You and surrender all my fears. In Jesus' name, Amen
