Your Daily Prayer 🙏🏾 Acts 23:3
God’s protection often comes through unexpected avenues.

Today’s daily devotional highlights Paul’s trial before the council, where he cleverly causes a division among his accusers by declaring his hope in the resurrection. The fierce argument that ensues forces the Roman judge to protect Paul. While in prison, Paul receives confirmation from God that he will continue his mission in Rome.
STORY
Bible in a Year: Whitewashed Tombs
Scripture
Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?

Acts 23:3
Have you ever found yourself surrounded by hostility, yet felt a sense of calm and direction from God?

Paul’s experience before the Jewish council and his protection through the Roman legal system is a testament to God’s sovereign protection and guidance even in the most dangerous situations.

Paul stood before a hostile council determined to end his life. Instead of succumbing to fear, he used his knowledge of the religious differences among his accusers to shift the focus from himself. Declaring his belief in the resurrection, Paul caused a fierce argument between the Pharisees and Sadducees, resulting in the Roman judge intervening to protect him. This demonstrates the power of wisdom and discernment in turning the tide in our favor.

Have you ever used discernment to navigate a challenging situation successfully?

While in prison, Paul received a reassuring word from God that he would be sent to Rome to continue his mission. Despite the immediate threats, Paul’s faith and God’s protection ensured his survival and continued purpose. This story reminds us that God’s presence and reassurances bring peace and direction even in the midst of trials.

How do you find strength and reassurance in God’s promises during difficult times?
REFLECTION
This week, focus on seeking God’s wisdom and discernment to navigate challenging circumstances. Spend time in prayer, asking God for the strength to stand firm in your faith and for the reassurance of His promises. Look for opportunities to shift the focus from yourself to God’s greater plan, just as Paul did.

PRAYER
“Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?”
ACTS 23:3
Heavenly Father…..when deceitful people plot against me to hinder and derail the purposes of my life, like Paul in today's reading, I thank You that You have a special messenger that will relay the plans of the enemy to those who can shift and redirect my steps to safety. Move on my behalf today and direct my life to the place of safety surrounded by men and women who are dedicated to helping me get to the final destination in my life. I declare that no plan of the enemy will thwart the eternal plans of God! I declare that even in the midst of hatred and violence You will preserve me because You have purposed me to do great things on Your behalf Jesus. Therefore, I will not be moved by the shouts and words of others, I will not allow their ignorance to overshadow my significance. I acknowledge today that I am called and because I am called no man can cancel what You've already approved! In Jesus’ Name, Amen. 🙏🏾
