Today, our guest is Selcen, and we celebrate the life and legacy of Sabiha Gökçen, a pioneering aviator whose remarkable achievements have profoundly impacted Turkish feminist culture. Sabiha Gökçen's journey began in 1913 in Bursa, Turkey, where she lost her parents.

Her life took a dramatic turn in 1925 when Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, adopted her. Atatürk was a visionary leader who championed women's rights and believed in their potential to contribute to the nation’s progress. His support and encouragement allowed Sabiha to pursue education and break away from traditional gender roles as a war pilot, which was unheard of during her era. Sabiha Gökçen's impact on Turkish feminist culture is profound. She showed that women could break barriers and reach great heights, literally and metaphorically.

Her life demonstrated the importance of equal opportunities and the need to challenge gender-based limitations. Her legacy encourages women to pursue their dreams and ambitions regardless of societal expectations. Sabiha Gökçen inspired countless young women to follow in her footsteps and seek careers in aviation, engineering, and other technical fields.
