Principal Tony Fischer and content strategist John Gonzalez co-host West Catholic Live, a show about all the great things happening at West Catholic High School.

Season 2, Episode 4 features:

Weekly Chatter - tidbits about events coming up next week, including Volleyball's Block Out Cancer game on Sept. 13, Grandparents/VIP Mass on Sept. 13 and an information night for a 2023 Pilgrimage to the Holy Sites of Italy. That night is Sept. 14. They also include details about the Robotics Team Information Night (Sept. 7) and Kick Off event on Sept. 10 at WC High School. The show also features a construction update about the new baseball and softball improvements, as well as tennis courts and football bleachers.

Associate Athletic Director Cam Burns' weekly sports update.

And a spotlight on Brazil, which celebrates its Independence Day on Sept. 7. Leann Garrison, West Catholic's International Program Coordinator and ESL Teacher, introduces us two of our International students from Brazil, Carlos Bezerra and Jose Marcio Da Silva.

Some facts:

Brazil is famous for its stunning beaches, rainforests, and diverse cities.

The Brazilian football (soccer) team has won the World Cup a record 5 times.

Brazil is the largest country in both South America and Latin America.

Brazil is the world's fifth-largest country by area and the seventh most populous.

The official language in Brazil is Portuguese.

Almost 2/3 of the country's population – 123 million people – identify as Catholic. The most of a any country in the world.

Our students were served two Brazilian desserts during today, Brigadeiros, the most popular dessert in Brazil and Pacoca, which is commonly served during “Festas Juninas,” that take place in June. These are celebrations to honor Saints Anthony, John and Peter, and the start of harvest season.

John and Tony also shared info about Homecoming:

Tickets are on sale now for Juniors and Seniors in the lunch or in Room 116! The dance is on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8-11 at "home." Tickets are $25 a person. You will need to fill out a Google Form before ticket purchase. Guest passes are available in the main office.
