Can we talk to girls about natural family planning? Of course! Natural family planning is NOT just for family planning. It’s a tool that every cycling woman can use to identify where she is in her cycle and to know herself and her body better.

Are we talking to girls about anything more than the bleeding of their period? Are girls/teenagers making informed choices when they are offered birth control? I wish I had this information when I was first learning about my body!

Here is some of what you will hear in this week’s episode:
-God did not screw up when he gave us menstrual cycles.
-It is normal for your first few periods to be long. It is normal to have irregular cycles in the first year after your first period.
-A healthy teenage cycle is 21-45 days and a healthy adult cycle is 21-35 days.
-Cramps and PMS are tied to the different hormones in our cycles and keeping track of your cycle can help you identify your patterns.
-Tracking your period is only one piece of the puzzle. Tracking your body’s signs will let you know exactly what phase of your cycle you are in.
-It is perfectly normal to feel differently during different parts of your cycle.
-Our body is giving us signs for a reason. Paying attention to our signs helps us work with our bodies.
-Healthy girls have healthy cycles. Healthy women have healthy cycles.
-Natural family planning can help girls learn what is normal for them. Then, if something is off with their typical patterns, they can talk to their healthcare provider sooner than later.
-Let’s celebrate and be thankful that we have periods. My period means my body is working the way it is supposed to work.
