show moreThis is a limited True Crime Podcast Series, dedicated solely to Manitoba History; for 31 Days only, October 1 to the 31st, landing on the scariest Day of the year!
It is crazy to think how such much evil and perversion has taking place over the course over the last 150 years + in a province that had so much promise and known as the gateway to the West.
But that is what it was and to some extent, remains to be, a Wild, Wild West show.
Join myself, Jas, as I introduce you to a short history lesson on some very horrific crimes and murders that have happened in our fair city of Winnipeg and around Manitoba every day in October.
Just like violence, crime and murder does not make sense to the civil sound minded person, these epsisodes are randomly released in no specific order. Some episodes are 4 minutes, some are 20 minutes.
Some horrific stories you may actually remember, but guaranteed, all of them, you will never forget!
October 7, 2024 - Episode 7 - Brothels of the Redlight District
Did you know that in the early 1900s Winnipeg had several streets designated in the Point Douglas neighourhood, specifically for prostituation and that the powers that be, allowed it! The Police department for the most part, turned a blind eye all because the male popluation out numbered the femail population? It was short lived though, as this brought the criminal elements to the forefront. Today's episode details the movement and disbanding of organized bawdy and houses of ill repute in our fine City of Winnipeg.
