Positron Emission Tomography (PET) has become the preferred test for diagnosing coronary artery disease. Although the clinical advantages are many, implementing a cardiac PET program requires planning, training, new technologies, and change management to challenge CV leadership.

In this episode, we talk with two physicians who have led the execution of cardiac PET programs and myocardial blood flow (MBF). Cardiologist Gary Heller, MD, Medical Director of Molecular Imaging Services, is the first physician to establish a PET program in Connecticut and has been involved in many other implementations since. Richard Thompson, MD, a cardiologist with Health First Medical Group, championed his organization’s recent cardiac PET program implementation.
