Every four years the excitement of the world cup fantasy game cricket fans reaches to the top of the world. The top cricketers from the top test playing nations get together for the biggest cricket tournament, the World Cup.
The entire tournament is a colourful affair as each nation’s chosen cricketers aim to grab the highest title of cricket world. For the cricketers who play for the first time at the event, it is an experience to cherish for life. And when a team wins the fantasy world cup, it is the moment of a lifetime.
The fans of fantasy cricket at 11Wickets will agree the World Cup is a great way to bring together various cultures and people from all over the globe. World Cup has been organising since 1975 and anticipation amongst world cup fantasy Indian fans is growing as the tournament is getting closer this summer.

World Cup 2011 (Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai)
The young Men in Blue of Sourav Ganguly succeeded in reaching the finals during world cup 2003. However, at the finals, they lost against the supergiant Australian team. 8 years later, the Men in Blue of MS Dhoni again reached the finals against Sri Lankan team. This time around, the Men in Blue were playing in their home grounds as India was host to World Cup 2011. Sri Lankan team had reached the WC finals in 2007 and won in 1996.
Winning the toss, the Lankan team made 274/6 in 50 overs despite the Indian spearhead Zaheer Khan. The team hammered 91 runs in the last 10 overs. In reply, the Indian team had a shaky start with Sachin and Sehwag falling down quickly. The Delhi duo, Gambhir and Kohli came for the rescue and gave a partnership of 83 runs for the third wicket until Kohli got dismissed. Dhoni came to the bat and Gambhir and Dhoni added 109 for the 4th wicket. Then for the 5th, wicketYuvraj Singh joined Dhoni. It was a keenly contested final and MSD uncorked his magic well. It goes down in history as one of the best World Cup final victories of all-time.
1983 World Cup final (Lord’s Cricket Ground in London)
Since the start of the World Cup tournament in 1975, it was the first time India reached the finals in 1983. The Windies team were appearing in the finals for the third time, winning the previous two in 1975 and 1979. They were on the verge of making a hat-trick. Clive Lloyd of West Indies won the toss and invited India to bat first. India crumbled at 183 all out.
Next, Windies came down to bat with confidence. The first shock came when opener Gordon Greenidge went down at 1 from Balwinder Sandhu. Nine more were to go. Viv Richards took his team to 57/2. The Caribbean crowd went in shock when their hero was dismissed by KapilDev, the Indian skipper. For the Windies side, it went downhill after the dismissal of Sir Richards. The India side sent the champions hurtling towards a 43-run defeat. 1983 became the year of India’s superb victory and it has been considered as the greatest victories of the World Cup.
