show moreRecently, a Kansas City art museum discovered one of the Renaissance master’s works in their closet- “The Temptation of St. Anthony,” which portrays the saint surrounded by strange beasts and a figure smoking something out of a glass pipe. St. Anthony was the patron saint of those who suffered from Ergotism, a deadly hallucinogenic disease that plagued people in the Middle ages.
