- Though Jacob schemed, God brought good out of his deception to further His purposes. This shows that God's ways are higher than our limited human understanding.
- God likely allowed Jacob's deceit in order to discipline him which later transformed his character. It also illustrated the unconditional nature of God's blessing.
- Jacob's story gives us hope because it shows that God can use anyone - even deceitful people! No one is beyond God's redemptive plans.
- Jesus is the true rightful heir who took on the position of underdog "Jacob" to redeem the world by grace.
- Imperfect people can be powerfully used by God. As sinners, we are more like Jacob than we'd like to admit! But God in His mercy pursues and transforms us.
- No matter our flaws and failures, God wants to use unlikely people for His glory today! His grace is greater than all our sin.
