show moreIt is an album that is at times heavier than anything the band has released in the past, with collaborations with some heavier vocalists such as Underoath's Spencer Chamberlain adding to the intensity.
The band is also just about to complete a tour of smaller sized venues to get more back in touch with their fans, going straight from there to a number of shows as part of the When We Were Young Festival, before heading to Australia for three dates as part of Good Things Festival in early December.
HEAVY caught up with rhythm guitarist Nick Martin and drummer Matty Best for more information.
We start by asking how the early reception has been for Complete Collapse.
"It's been amazing," Best beamed. "This tour we're currently doing is a bunch of small venues to celebrate with our core fan base, and it's safe to say that the new songs are going down as favourites better and better every night. It's been amazing."
As alluded to, Complete Collapse has moments of heaviness unlike anything Sleeping With Sirens has put out before, so we press the boys as to what the band set out to do musically with the album.
"I think that we were wanting to channel the nostalgic feel," Martin began, "kind of going back to our roots which ties in to this little tour that we are doing. I think we had a vision for the album and that vision was to just have fun, and that subconsciously tapped into the nostalgic feel with what we were doing. It was still heavy, still rocked, but has kind of little moments that are a nod to earlier Sirens records while also being current. Again, just having fun with what we were doing, so I think we were able to achieve that and it seems like people are really drawn into that and also noticing that. It's been a good feeling."
In the full interview, the boys talk more about the musical direction on Complete Collapse, the guest artists they used and what they brought to each track, the singles released and how they represent the album, the album title and what it refers to, playing the smaller venues and what the band gets out of those shows, their upcoming Good Things shows and what to expect, a homecoming of sorts for Best and more.
