Rising Brisbane punk rock outfit Goatzilla are one of the local bands set to appear at this weekends Wallapalooza Festival, which will be held at the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds on February...
show moreFresh from last weekend’s appearance at Thrashville, Goatzilla are pumped and firing on all cylinders for Wallapalooza, with frontman Ben Rippingale and guitarists P1 and P2 joining HEAVY to chat about the show.
"For me, in my nearly four years of being in the band, it's definitely the biggest show and hopefully it will be the biggest crowd we have played to,” P1 began. “There's not many festivals coming up the size of this one, especially in South East Queensland with the style of music we play."
"We're coming off the back of last weekend when we played Thrashville,” Ben chimed in, “but Walla will be much bigger. It was great for us to get back on a big stage and try to blow out some of the cobwebs that have built up."
Festivals such as Wallapalooza are not only great for the fans because of the quality of acts on the line-up, they are also a great opportunity for the local bands to play alongside established artists to a bigger crowd.
"It means a lot to all of us,” P1 beamed. “To play with some of the bands we grew up listening to , the Cosmic Psychos being one of them, The Poor, a lot of the 90s punk and rock bands that are coming to play as well. All of those guys to share a stage with is massive to us. It means a lot."
In the full interview, the boys talk about who they are most looking forward to playing with, things they can learn from the experience, new songs being written and if any of them will be ripped out at Wallapalooza, the direction of the new tracks, future plans and more.
