show moreDuring this episode, The 1 talks with Mrs. Michele Boyd, the founder and CEO of Bring On Your Dreams - An organization that provides emergency assistance and supportive services for women living with HIV/AIDS, and she shares with us just how HIV/AIDS epidemic is still thriving in black communities, especially amongst our teens.
Mrs. Boyd, a person, currently living with HIV, shares her journey through rape, homelessness, and her daily struggles living with the virus. From being abused by her husband at the age of 19 to being raped by her husband's friend after being offered a ride home, which lead her to be infected with the virus to being told that she only had months to live as her immune system was operating at 2%.
Her story will have you at the edge of your seats.
We also take an in-depth look at how the virus is affecting teens as Mrs. Boyd and Mrs. Brown (Vice-Chair of Bring On Your Dreams) share their accounts on how this disease has taken the lives of our youth. Some as young as fifteen. Their stories bring a new awareness to a disease that has been forgotten but is nowhere near gone.
