Charles Haddon Spurgeon was an English Particular Baptist preacher in the 19th century and was pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He encouraged his congregation to attend to the poor in London, and founded Spurgeon’s College, which was named after him posthumously.
