Uk: Настав осінній день на великій фермі в селищі Диканьки.
En: An autumn day arrived at the large farm in the village of Dikanka.

Uk: Повітря було прохолодним, а поля навколо сяяли золотом пшениці.
En: The air was cool, and the fields around shimmered with golden wheat.

Uk: Оксана стояла на подвір’ї, оглядаючи урожай.
En: Oksana stood in the yard, surveying the harvest.

Uk: Вона працювала невтомно, щоб завершити збір до свята Рош га-Шана.
En: She worked tirelessly to finish the gathering before the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

Uk: Разом із нею мешкав її батько Дмитро, мудрий і шанований у селі чоловік.
En: Living with her was her father, Dmytro, a wise and respected man in the village.

Uk: Їхня ферма була родинною справою, гордістю всієї родини.
En: Their farm was a family business, the pride of the whole family.

Uk: Але цього дня Дмитрові стало зле.
En: But that day, Dmytro fell ill.
