Welcome to our podcast everyone, our special guest for this week is Cory Richardson. Cory is a goal setter and one of the main goals he is trying to promote is the idea of students spending at least one week of the school year camping, organized by students themselves, and that schools would collect camping gear from the community to reduce obstacles to youth enjoying nature. More kids spending more time outdoors and less time on their devices sounds like a wonderful idea here at Motivate to Move.
This is just the beginning of what Cory is doing and working on. In this episode, you will hear many more ideas such as "Buddy Benches" and trail building. Cory has been offering art therapy workshops in schools since 1999, teaching life planning, hoop dance, beadwork, sewing, journal writing, talking circles, and much more. How about Cory's project of linking a trail from Saint John to Walton Glen Gorge, then on to Sussex? Spending the last ten years developing Walton Glen Gorge to be a rock climbing area, and doing it alone as Cory enjoys the peace of doing first ascents.
With All the free time Cory has why not have your own online company, HangingHugs.com, an online custom Hammock building business. Links below, and I would suggest you go check it out, very cool Hammocks indeed. Selling these Hammocks helps Cory fund some of the projects he has going on, give it a look.
Did I forget to mention his solo kayak journey from Vancouver to Central Mexico? Cory had an online journal back in 1997 and documented this journey way back then and had over 4 million visitors, which is very impressive.
We cover a ton of things in this episode and I can't go over it all here so why not listen while you're out connecting with nature and see what Cory has to say, we are glad we did.
