show moreShakal ibn Humayd said: I came to the Prophet salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam and said: “O Messenger of Allah, teach me a protective du‘a with which I can supplicate to seek refuge.” So he held my hand and said: “Say: ‘O Allah, I seek your refuge from the evil of my hearing, the evil of my sight, the evil of my tongue, the evil of my heart, and the evil of my private part.’”
Reported by Abu Dawud (1551) and al-Tirmidhi (3492). It is declared to be hasan gharib by al-Tirmidhi, hasan by ibn Hajar and al-Suyuti, and sahih by al-Albani (Sahih al-Tirmidhi 3492)
عن شَكَلِ بن حُمَيْدٍ قال أتيتُ النَّبيَّ ﷺ فقُلتُ يا رسولَ اللَّهِ عَلِّمْني تَعَوُّذًا أَتَعَوَّذُ بِهِ قالَ فأخذَ بكَفِّي فقالَ (قُلْ اللَّهمَّ إنِّي أعوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ سَمْعي ومِن شرِّ بَصَري ومِن شرِّ لِساني ومِن شرِّ قَلبي ومن شرِّ مَنِيِّي) يَعني فَرْجَهُ
رواه أبو داود (1551) والترمذي (3492) وقال حسن غريب وحسنه ابن حجر والسيوطي وصححه الألباني (صحيح الترمذي 3492)
