What's your favorite scary movie, Slackers?

It's been said that "you either die a hero, or you live long enought to see yourself become the villain". But can the reverse be true as well?

Anyone who has seen enough slasher flicks knows that the main character is almost always the villain - think Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger - and without them, there really is no franchise. I remember the first time seeing a Friday the 13th in theaters, and the crowd was fully behind Jason, waiting in anticipation on how he would dispatch his next victim.

And what about comedy? Some might prefer their horror "straight", but franchises like Child's Play and Leprechaun lean heavily into the comedic side of things, with just enought scares (and gallons of blood) to keep horror enthusiasts satisified.

One recurring theme in many of these flicks, is often times there is a tragic backstory to the villain, allowing for just enough sympathy to make the character's actions almost understandable. Maybe it isn't Shakespeare, but there is often more depth in the most outrageous slasher flick than people give them credit for!
