In just a few short days after taking back control of the House, some Democrats have already called for the impeachment of President Trump, the abolition of the Electoral College, restraints on presidential pardon power, and proposed a tax rate as high as 70 percent for the wealthiest taxpayers. Even within the Democratic Party, this is a bridge too far. According to a post-election November Gallup poll, 54 percent of Democrats and Democratic-learning independents want the party to move more to the center. Only 41 percent of the same group want the Democratic Party to move further left.
