Returning from an eighteen-month break to refresh themselves and figure out the best way to push forward Brisbane's I Shall Devour have returned with a new outlook, different line-up, and...
show moreAfter releasing an E.P, Manipunation, and album, The Misanthropist before the break, the boys promise they have ironed out the creases that had started to unfold and replaced them with what they believe is the quintessential I Shall Devour sound.
"I think if anything the fans will be pleasantly surprised", enthused vocalist Jarrod Eagleton of the reincarnated version of the band. "The new music will be very similar to the E.P that had a more thrashy, underground sound. I think with the album we went a bit too structured and proper but the new songs are more thrashy and thrown around which is what I think a lot of the deathcore, younger audiences like. They like a bit of randomness and something that leaves you anticipating but not expecting. We're blending both, having the proper pop structure where you can follow a song and understand where you are but still feel that aggressive thump throughout".
In the full interview Jarrod discusses the reasons behind the split and what changed to make them try again, introduces the new members, tells more about new songs "Spit" and "With Darkness" and what inspired them, how they plan to introduce the band back into the metal community, the destabilising effect member changes can have and more.
