meraviglioso intervento di Gianluca Comastri! vorrei chiedere all'esperto, visto che diversi nomi di Valar (come Manwe, Ulmo, Tulkas, Orome, ecc.) sembrano adattamenti quenya dal valarin, sarebbe possibile ricavare gli originali valarin di quelli che ci mancano, a partire sempre dal quenya? per esempio, non mi sembra che Tolkien abbia fornito il "valarin" di Varda o Namo

una cosa interessante, secondo me, collegata alla Grande Marcia degli Eldar e ai Valar: nel breve saggio di Pengolodh (nella History of Middle Earth) "of Lembas" è scritto che Yavanna creò e cucino per prima il Pandivia, e lo consegnò a Orome per donarlo agli Elfi in Marcia, per agevolarli

anche il Seth egizio sembra combaciare con Morgoth-Melkor, entrambi divinità delle tempeste e degli elementi distruttivi, in contrapposizione al dio-uccelo del cielo Horus/Manwe

Vana sembra molto similare anche alla dea della giovinezza ellenica, Ebe, e alla Idhunn norrena, custode delle mele dell'immortalità
