Today we have an extraordinary episode with the largest franchisor of all Australia, Jim Penman, a very talented, unassuming guy. He has 50 different sectors that he’s in currently and over 5,000 franchise units and growing. With the most Australia is the most franchise-rich country in the world with the most franchisees per capita, so Jim has made an enormous name for himself, and at the same time he’s still a very personable guy with a large family. He is an author of several self published books, has a PhD in history, and shared 45 minutes of his time with us talking business, how he started the now ubiquitous and incredibly successful Jim's, franchise network of all the different brands, and how he mentors his different franchisors and franchisees. He puts the franchisee and their success first, providing world class customer service and experience as well as abundant income for his franchises, which he makes a fundamental keystone to his journey.
“They’re so deluded about how good their service is because they don’t check, they don’t ask, they just assume they’re doing good service. So often they’re not and you gotta just constantly, it’s constant satisfaction and drive to say nothing is good enough, and that’s why it’s good for me to see all these complaints coming through because each time I can say ‘Why is this happening? What better training can we do? What better technology, teaching? How can I improve what we do?’” 23:50
