It’s Memorial Day weekend! To celebrate this holiday, The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast welcomed actor-singer Seth Sikes for its fifth special edition.

I first met Seth when he appeared at my dear friends, Branden + James’ concert at New York City’s the Green Room 42. He sang the classic tune “Stormy Weather” with the couple. I loved his vocals that were inspired by the Great American Songbook icons such as Judy Garland and Lena Horne.

Before he earned the reputation as one of New York City’s “most talked-about performers,” Seth Sikes was very active in the theater industry. He was the Assistant Director for the 10-time Tony-winning musical The Band’s Visit and The Nance (starring Nathan Lane and directed by Jack O’Brien). Seth also served as the Assistant Director for the Off-Broadway productions of Tribes, Pageant, Sweet Bird of Youth, and Sondheim: The Birthday Concert.

After his successes in the theater industry, Seth Sikes set his sights on the Big Apple’s nightclub scene. His debut show, which paid tribute to Judy Garland, was named “Best Tribute Show” by Broadway World. Also, The New York Arts Review described Seth as “one of the great saviors of the Great American Songbook.”

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Seth was unable to perform in front of live audiences. However, he solved this problem by creating a series of viral music videos. His recent video, “Ring Them Bells,” was selected to conclude Liza Minnelli’s globally watched seventy-fifth’s birthday celebration.

In this special edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Seth Sikes spoke about how he was starstruck when he met one of his idols: the iconic Liza Minnelli and his work on The Band’s Visit. He also previewed his June 3 show, Runnin’ Wild, at the Green Room 42.
