Josué 21: El Dios que cumple lo que promete a sus sacerdotes.

Josué 21:43-45:
Así dio el SEÑOR a Israel toda la tierra que había jurado dar a sus padres. Ellos tomaron posesión de ella y habitaron en ella. Y el SEÑOR les dio reposo alrededor, conforme a todo lo que había jurado a sus padres. Ninguno de sus enemigos pudo resistirlos, porque el SEÑOR entregó en su mano a todos sus enemigos. No falló ninguna palabra de todas las buenas promesas que el SEÑOR había hecho a la casa de Israel; todo se cumplió.

En este capítulo vemos cómo los israelitas repartieron ciudades a la tribu de Leví. Leví fue la tribu que no se le asignó un lugar específico en el territorio, sino que ellos estarían ubicados en medio de sus hermanos, repartidos por toda la tierra prometida. Primero, porque Dios les dijo que la herencia de ellos es el sacerdocio, que Dios mismo sería su herencia. Segundo, porque de esa manera ellos podrían vivir y administrar las ciudades de refugio; en el tema anterior aprendimos sobre ella y su función como protección y hacer justicia en casos delicados en medio del pueblo de Israel.

Los tres clanes de Leví: Gersón, Coat, y Merari fueron los últimos que recibieron sus ciudades. Estas pertenecían a las tribus que se les asignaron y nadie se las podía arrebatar porque eran dedicadas para siempre como ciudades de los levitas, y así ellos podían subsistir con sus familias produciendo cosechas y criando ganado. Cuando era el tiempo de ayudar en el templo, ellos viajaban hacia el templo y regresaban a sus casas.
Los levitas representaban la presencia de Dios entre el pueblo. Ellos podían bendecir al pueblo, aconsejar a sus vecinos acerca de las leyes sagradas, y ser su guía espiritual. Aunque todos los israelitas debían ir también al templo para ofrecer las ofrendas al Señor, en la vida cotidiana contaban con gente dedicada, consagrada a Dios que podía orientarlos en el área espiritual y así todos poder agradar al Señor.
Muchos podían consultar a Dios por medio de ellos, pidiendo oración y ellos podían interceder por ellos al Señor.

Cuando se cumplió el propósito de Dios de repartir toda la tierra equitativamente, podemos leer al final del capítulo una declaración poderosa acerca de las promesas del Señor. Dios les dió toda la tierra que les prometió, sus enemigos no los pudieron vencer, y se cumplió todo lo que Dios les había anticipado.

Esta enseñanza nos muestra la necesidad de mantener cerca de nosotros a personas que llevan una vida espiritual consagrada al Señor para que nos puedan dar un consejo sabio y nos guíen por el buen camino. No alguien que le echa más leña al fuego, que inflama el problema con consejos equivocados.
¡Espero que tú y yo podamos ser esos buenos vecinos que dan esa mano amiga, cumpliendo el mandato del Señor, ya que Dios declaró que nosotros somos reyes y sacerdotes para Dios! Pongamos ese sacerdocio en acción consagrando nuestras vidas para el servicio de aquellos que necesitan ese apoyo espiritual en momentos decisivos. Que podamos dar consejos apropiados e interceder por algún hogar que esté pasando por un momento difícil.
Que hoy podamos afirmar ese compromiso de vivir bajo la voluntad de Dios y enfrentar todo ataque del enemigo que se levante contra nosotros y nuestra familia, cualquier pensamiento o sentimiento que nos quiera separar del plan divino del Señor con nuestro matrimonio y nuestros hijos. Que podamos servir al Señor con valentía y sin desmayar, que al final recibiremos la recompensa de nuestro esfuerzo.
¡Así que no temas ni desmayes porque el mismo Dios que hizo estas promesas a Abraham y su descendencia, el que escogió a Moisés para sacar al pueblo de la esclavitud, el que estuvo con Josué para conquistar tierras de gigantes, está con nosotros hoy en día cumpliendo sus promesas cuando dijo: "Y he aquí, yo estoy con ustedes todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo”. (Mateo 28:20).

Joshua 21: The God who fulfills what He promises to His priests.

Joshua 21:43-45:
So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

In this chapter we see how the Israelites distributed cities to the tribe of Levi. Levi was the tribe that was not assigned a specific place in the territory, but they would be located in the middle of their brothers, scattered throughout the promised land. First, because God told them that their inheritance is the priesthood, that God Himself would be their inheritance. Second, because in that way they could live and manage the cities of refuge; in the previous topic we learned about it and its function as protection and doing justice in delicate cases in the midst of the people of Israel.

Levi's three clans: Gershon, Kohath and Merari were the last to receive their cities. These belonged to the tribes assigned to them and no one could take them away because they were dedicated forever as cities of the Levites, and so they could survive with their families producing crops and raising livestock. When it was time to help in the temple, they traveled to the temple and returned to their homes.
The Levites represented the presence of God among the people. They could bless the people, advise their neighbors about the sacred laws, and be their spiritual guide. Although all the Israelites should also go to the temple to offer offerings to the Lord, in daily life they had dedicated people, consecrated to God who could guide them in the spiritual area and thus all be able to please the Lord.
Many could consult God through them, asking for prayer and they could intercede with the Lord for them.

When God's purpose of distributing the whole land equitably has been fulfilled, we can read at the end of the chapter a powerful statement about the Lord's promises. God gave them all the land He promised them, their enemies could not overcome them, and everything that God had anticipated to them was fulfilled.

This teaching shows us the need to keep close to us people who lead a spiritual life consecrated to the Lord so that they can give us wise advice and guide us on the right path. Not someone who puts more fuel on the fire, who inflames the problem with wrong advice.
I hope that you and I can be those good neighbors who give that helping hand, fulfilling the Lord's mandate, since God declared that we are kings and priests for God! Let's put that priesthood into action by consecrating our lives to the service of those who need that spiritual support at decisive moments. That we can give appropriate advice and intercede for a home that is going through a difficult time.
That today we can affirm that commitment to live under the will of God and face every attack of the enemy that rises against us and our family, any thought or feeling that wants to separate us from the divine plan of the Lord with our marriage and our children. That we serve the Lord with courage and without fainting, that in the end we will receive the reward of our efforts.
So do not fear or faint because the same God who made these promises to Abraham and his descendants, the One who chose Moses to get the people out of slavery, the One who was with Joshua to conquer lands of giants, is with us today fulfilling His promises when He said: "And behold, I am with you every day, until the end of the world." (Matthew 28:20).
